What’s New and Happening at the Golf Club at Heather Ridge
Golf operation objectives now include a strong emphasis on pace of play. One of Heather Ridge’s joys was play of 18-holes in less than four hours. With more play and golfers, a round of golf now takes longer. Many golfers and managers want four hours or less, so our starters and marshals are working closely with players to keep golf fun and relaxing without being too time consuming.
Completed major capital improvements to the club now includes: new central air conditioners for the club house (five separate systems), new roof and fencing for the golf maintenance building, and a new well at the 16th tee box area. All these expenditures were planned for and funded through Reserves set aside from purchase bonds used to buy the club.
Now that the club is up and running well, other events and programs are being developed. The Fourth of July couples tournament was a huge success, and plans for a similar Labor Day weekend event is in progress—more news to follow.
Golf training and group activities include Junior Golf with local schools, group classes for golfers, and product promotion days for equipment and golf personnel. These programs are coming about because we have made the club financial successful and its time to broaden our activities and outlook.
Thanks for being a part of the miracle called the Golf Club at Heather Ridge. Without community taxpayers coming to its rescue, we would be just another housing development, not a viable golf course keeping the open space open!
